Overclocking CPU

Some of you may have seen that I'm have PC/Black Oops issues. I notice cpu usage spikes. Not sure if its is my cpu or Black Ops. I know BO is cpu heavy but it can't be that heavy can it? I have a Q6600 Quad Core 2.4GHz. Should I start thinking of overclocking? I DO NOT want to throw more money into it. I believe it has a Cooler Master RC-690 stock.
Intel® Core™ 2 Q6600 quad core processor with VT
•Each core operates at 2.40 GHz
•2 x 4 MB L2 cache
•1066 MHz front side bus

OC that thing to 3GHZ...pretty easy i hear just on air. Did you go into the mp settings and change that you only use 1 gpu and have mutlithreaded device turned on? By default the game is stupid and makes them backwards.

Yeah I did that. I'll double check anyway. Not sure about overclocking. I'm not under warranty so I don't have that to worry about but.....
Is there a good tutorial? What do I need then if I dont need a cooler.

I had that chip before I build my new rig and it handled it well. I have the same vid card I had before. I do see a difference but not sure if its the new chip or the fact that I increased my power supply. I was running a 650 but bought the 1000M Thermite. I now get fps up into the 100's and very rarely drop below 80-90. I still have lag issues but think that has to do with my connection; it can fluctuate from time to time which affects my ping. Not sure what to tell you, your rig from what I remember should play it well.

That's what I thought. Hopefully I'll get it playable for the new maps
