Time for a new case

UFANSTue Mar 22, 2011 1:35 pm

I have had my current case for about 8 years, its a Antec full server case, works fine but really limited on fans (only 80mm) and no cable management.  I need your help deciding on my next case.  I have narrowed it down to two cases.

Antec Dark Fleet DF-85

or

Cooler Master Haf X 942

I have always been a big fan of Cool master.  I have the cool master you are looking at for my home server and I love it.  Tons of fan room and the chassis is set to accept liquid cooling.  If my vote counts I would go for the cool master.

those are both pretty sweet looking cases, If I was doing the choosing, I'd pick the coolmaster, Because I like the larger fans (tend to be quieter) and also I prefer a case with an understated, clean look.

Also, you may want to check out Lian Li cases, I'm in love with them, particularly their tool-less attachment systems.

While Antec does have a good product line, I'd go with the Cooler Master...

I have the HAF 932 full tower case and things run incredibly cool...might even want to look into that and save a few $$$...

Have you checked out any AZZA cases?
They make some nice ones.
I have the Helios and it is a nice case. Plenty of cooling.
Also - AZZA donates 50% of its net profit to World Vision to help the children who are in need of help with food, nutrition and education

The hurrican 2000 looks real nice.

All I can say is this Haf X is GREAT!!   Old case my GPU's was running at 45C idle, now it runs 28C idle and never gets up to 45C.  Plenty enough room, I think you might be able to park a VW bug in it.  Have a good 4-5" of room behind the GPU's.  The cable management is great allowing better air flow.  Was thinking about water cooling but I dont think it going to be necessary.

Asus M4A89TD Pro/USB3  System temp 21C
AMD 1090T @3.7 (just turbo enabled) w/Zalman 9500 Led cooler  28C
8gb g skill ripjaw
Gigabyte 5850 and Asus 5850 Crossfire  Gig=28C and Asus=31C  (asus card is OC to 765 to match the Gig card)
Cooler Master 1000w PSU
