My timing in knifing is so bad, I should be the poster child for how not to.

But I have a question  about it.

When you are trying to knife, and avoid being knifed, can we jump?  I admit I do it on "instinct" so if this is a no no... no problemo.

I would just like to be able to know that I am not breaking any rules whilst looking like I got pronged with a tazer

I think that would be same a jumping to avoid being shot and that is a no no. Going prone would have a better effect in a knife fight cause if you jump your legs will get sliced.

Your best bet is to keep your eyes peeled and your personal space to 10 ft. Anyone comes near you with a knife, shoot them!

Having said that, I happen upon many people who don't look around, so I knife them just for the satisfaction.

There are times when you know you are going to knife someone and ... ok ok ... me .. I try and knife someone, and my timing is so bad, they have time to turn around and stab me! <- the horror The only way I can think of getting distance, or giving me time to re-stab, because it is not so fast, is to jump away, or move away fast, as when you do under direct fire or nade.

Then, get behind the guy, take your pistol... aim a ear... and shoot....

K I will tell you how I do it and its works well for me (ask Windy, Kula, or bil4short) I have a nasty reputation of knifing people. For one to do it effective you need to have silent movement attached so they dont hear you coming. Secondly, as you stalk them you keep your gun pointed at them with the intent to shoot if they even look like they are gonna turn around and see you. Once you get within a couple feet you hit your knife key just in case they decide to move as you get close. This is usually close enough to kill them even if they move. especially in this game because you lunge when you knife. Also you have to anticipate they may feel you behind them; dont know how they do it being its a game but they do. I have done it myself. So be sneaky and ready to kill at a moment's notice. The other thing that helps me is because I use a joystick and I assign my melee to the trigger I am always ready to knife with a twitch of my finger. Good Stalking!

Sometimes, if there is time, I like to throw one of my secondary nades. You score an impact kill before they detonate.

I generally sneak up on them myself, keeping my gun on them just incase.
I also had better luck if you aim just slightly down from there head... more squishy to stick

or theres option 3, use a tomahawk!  srsly, look at my lifetime kills, its like 40 knife kills and 400 tomahawks...
