I use a Media Center remote on my other computer. However I don't use Windows Media Center. I use XBMC instead(xbox media center). This I run to my tv. I also use Hulu Desktop, and other media players. The problem I was having, it is a pain in the butt to get up off the bed to use the mouse to switch everything. I then discovered EventGhost. With this running I can configure it to run and control all sorts of different things. For example, so far I have it set up to work with XBMC, Hulu, and Winamp. With a press of the power button I can close either program. If I press any of the buttons associated with starting one of those applications it will automatically close the current one and start the new one.. It's a handy little tool which you can check out here:

I also plan on purchasing one of these:

If I am lucky I will be able to replace every remote I use + one PS3 controller with that. Worst case scenario is I use two remotes. Still better than the current setup. I am going this route instead of buying a Logitech Harmony because it is cheaper, and you use less items to control everything.
Just got a mental image of Tet sitting on his bed, in his underwear, eating cheetos, drinking Pepsi, laughing as he gets yet another helicopter kill on me, then breaking into a furious rampage when he can't find his remote.

WHOA!!! Don't need that image in my head - thanks Llama-Man....yuck!
BTW: I use a Logitech Harmony Uni Remote - it works great with everything I have.
Harmony Remote
Harmony also has some software so you can program the remote from your PC....
I wonder if this will work for your needs.
You have it backwards. I am relaxed on the bed. Raging when I can't kill anybody.
From what I have read there is a slight delay with Harmony remotes when pressing keys and seeing the results. That would annoy me. Plus, I can either spend 50 bucks for the harmony ps3 adapter, 10 bucks on a cheap remote then use that usb adapter with the harmony; or 30 bucks on the ps3 universal remote. Ps3 universal remote looks to be the cheapest and easiest solution.
