While the Nook is Android based, most Android apps will not run on it.  There's the possibility of rooting it and installing a full on version of Android, but even if that is already available to do on the Nook HD I wouldn't recommend trying it if you don't know what you are doing.

If your looking for a tablet get the Nexus 7 especially if your already a Android person. I have one and love it. If you want a reader get a Kindle. Some of my family have them and they just love them.

I'm sure if you look on XDA's web site ( http://www.xda-developers.com/ ) you will find some help here. I searched for your divice here and found some forums. I use this site for my Droid sometimes. http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1394

Watch their video before you make some posts....and DON'T BE A NOOB!!!!!

Thanks for the info but XDA dose not have a Nook HD/+ section yet. That being said they may add one in the future considering what one of the staff posted...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2007185

open quote I hate being the bad guy, but I am afraid that the time has come for this...

To be blunt, this is the Nook color forum, not the Nook touch or Nook HD/+ forum. WE have been fairly lax about the rules, but our forum is starting o get overrun, and it needs to stop. I understand that there is no HD board, but that is not really an excuse to fill another board with unrelated discussions. No other board allows discussion about other devices, and we need to bring the board in line with the XDA rules.

So, at this point, I am going to close (not delete) the existing threads. I urge all users to go here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1660354
and make a request for a Nook HD board. If one is created (which should happen), I will move any HD threads to that forum, and reopen them.

I apologize, and understand that this may not be a popular decision; truthfully, i should have never allowed it in the first place, and given the impression that this board is ok for it. I will try to be better in the future.

The Nook Color has rom of CM7 or CM10
See links below

This one way of getting your Nook color to load any app.

http://www.cyanogenmod.org/devices/nook-color
http://get.cm/?device=encore

You have an HD no rom for that one just yet.

You can back up your current Rom and install customer Rom and Gapps.

but like Tet stated if you haven't done this type of work yet talk to some who has.

IMO just be patient.  The Android community is a unique beast.  They will more than likely have something working soon enough.  Look what they did with the HP Touchpad.
