How to change your name in Origin.

I was looking for the info that I was telling you guys about over TS and one of my clan mates posted this.

Finally, some good news after all the heartbreak we’ve had to endure with EA’s Origin, Battlelog, lack of multiple soldiers etc. Now EA has released an online service where users can change their Origin username. It still looks like we’ll be able to have only one soldier in Battlefield 3, so chose your username wisely. Previously, players could update their name through an iOS app. Either that, or write to EA support, which, given its sheer incompetence, didn’t seem to provide much help to many players.

I read about this on EA forums and I confirmed it does work

using either the Iphone or Android download "Scrabble Free"
Log into origin on the bottom right
Go to settings
And change your name.

Once you found one that is not in use save it, close the App and your set. Log into Origin on your computer or EA.com and it will show your new name as Master EA ID and Origin Display name.


I tried it and it does work. Someone already had DemonSeed so I changed mine to TheDemonSeed. Logged back in to Origin and the name was changed!  

Good find and it looks like it would work if I could figure out what characters it likes and dislikes.  Current name is SilentWolfBK and tried putting in Silent_Wolf*BK* and it says that it cant make the change.

I got it to work using the dash, not sure if that is the righ protocol though ( Joel-BK- )

I think you can add the BK tags in Battlelog, when BF3 comes out.

So.... we need to use a phone app? That's just silly. THough still sweet that there's SOME way.

Though i recall reading that we;'ll be able to add multiple Soldiers under one Master ID. Still unsure if i'll get BF3, but i hope that's
s the case.

Unfortunately not available in the UK iTunes store; I don't have a 'dummy' US address to use either. Android won't let me install it either. Does anyone have the apk file?

It sort of worked for me. I wanted to add BK and get rid of the 1 in my name but I was able to add the BK but not get rid of the one. So if it is close to your original name you may have issues getting it to work. Despite WolfFang being different from WolfFang1 it considered it the same name and would not accept it.

Yes - it does work - but if you have a persona listed you cannot use that one in Ortgin - I had to use theMubble.
