can u download it ?
my guess is you would have to sign into the account you used to purchase the game(whatever website) and preload it. Amazon, Origin and Direct2drive(according to the above post) all allow the preload of the game.

If you got the hard disk option, the only thing I can think of is checking with the store you pre-ordered it from. I am not aware of being able to download the game if you have a hard copy bought. If you got the game from a local game store you have an option of canceling yout order of BF3 and putting it on another game like CoD MW3 or some other game you may want. I have done that in the past when I would not be able to get time off from work to run down to the gamestop in town to get my game. I did this when Medal of Honor came out just before Call of Duty Black Ops, I got MoH by Gamestops download (In reality I bought the game twice, once as a Hard copy, and again as a Direct Download, changed the hard copy to CoD) Hope this makes sense as I have not had my morning cup of coffee
I pre-ordered the physical copy of the game through the Origin store and I was given the download option via Origin.
as log as you put the code in origin under settings (little cog wheel) and redeem code first, you will get a digital version to DL. thats how i got all my ea games not bought through origin to show up in the list and can use disc or DL it. Good thing to cuz my dog loved command and conquer so much he ate the box and the disc LOL.
