A conversation I had with Josh Olin...

LukeWed Jul 06, 2011 12:02 am

After any lack of word about support for PC on upcomming COD games I contact Josh Olin about it.

@JoshOlin Why should a large #COD clan over 300 members and 9 servers who is looking at #BF3 stay with #COD which is getting old and warn?

@bkops If you think that's what's happening to COD, then I suggest you pick another game Smile. Simple logic. I don't agree with you, though.

@JoshOlin What new and exciting gaming are you offering to PC gamers in upcoming games? Any promise of support to PC gamers?

@bkops I can't talk about future projects I'm working on, you know that.

@JoshOlin Can you talk about #MW3 and why PC gamers should go to it?

@bkops No, I don't work on that game.

@JoshOlin A general comment to keep supporting dedicated servers and PC gaming?

So after that he made no more posts to me. Then he made this post:

I can't stand how often my iPhone auto-corrects my misspelling of "just" as "Judy." Bothers me enough that I just tweeted about it.

I think its sad they wont make a general comment of support to PC gaming.

That's a very disheartening conversation.
The more news that I read about BF3, the more I prefer it.  I saw yesterday that they are offering infantry only game modes in BF3, which should make the game more appealing for all those players who hate getting blown to bits by vehicles/aircraft.

That makes my decision that much easier.  I already pre-ordered BF3 and I don't currently have any plans to purchase MW3.

Pretty much expected.  I look forward to getting back to my favorite line of gaming:  Battlefield.   BK for BF in 2011.

Just like when MW2 came out...they avoided the dedicated server question or just didnt answer anyone on it....

BF3 only here...I will wait until steam gives it away for me to play the single player

It always surprises me a little to see posts like this here.  It is my belief the stance and focus of these guys has been evident and pointed out here many times before in the past. There will never have a lack of choices when it comes to a game to support on BK servers.

DFMhellboy if they have dedicated servers we will support it for MW3. If not we wont have any servers. Now if they do have dedicated servers the question comes down to how many BK will buy it and how many severs we will put behind it.

Right now we know a lot about BF3 for the PC and know nothing about MW3 for the PC.

Agreed...MW3 doesn't look horrible...just not alot on it, and i'm sure right now there revamping the whole thing to atleast compete with BF3, cause as it stands...BF3 looks like it's going back to PC gamer roots, and not console style junk.

sadly this has already been whispered of i cant seem to find the link any more however they where talking of going back to the steam match up system and doing away with dedicated servers all over again, which to me sounds as if they are merely taking mw2 and re-skinning it and calling it a new game....once again.. and since it will be the same engine once again, you can bet the hacks will be released the same time as the pre-ordered games come out, just now we wont be able to ban them again.

worse though is the fact they are going with the whole pay to play options much like a premium account on some of your f2p games they call it "cod elite", you can still play for free but with the options for extra goodies what all options will be offered to paying members hasn't been told however if they follow suit with many of the premium account stores out there i would not be surprised to see modified guns or special perks, cause honestly who will be willing to pay $7-$10 a month just to be able to see your stats and progress and what guns you're best with, basically that nice little menu we currently have for free where it shows us where we tend to hit someone and our gun stats and k2d for free will now be charged for.. i just don't see that being the kind of thing you will get anyone to pay a fee to have so there has to be more to it.

I honestly believe that if there are no dedicated servers most BK will not buy MW3.
