I can't say either way right now. I can fly down there for real cheap or I can take the six hour drive down. How would the lan party work??? Bringing your own computers?? I can let you know when it gets closer
Sounds fun! Though I wish we could coax our overseas members to hop the pond. I'm interested, and with that much notice, could likely attend. I do have a couple questions however:
1. What hotel chain are we looking at? Are we locked in to that particular chain?
2. Did you already contact the banquet manager/hotel manager to negotiate group rates?
3. Do we have an opinion with regard to non players (e.g. family) who may want to attend?
As a side note, I have a brother-in-law who works for Marriott. In the past, he was able to secure friends/family rates. Moreover, he might be willing to help negotiate a cheaper group rate. Just wanted to throw that out there.
We have contact several hotels and the Holiday inn is offering the best rates. All the info posted above is for the Holiday in hotel. We did contact Marriott and never revived a quote for there hotels.
Family is always welcome. Please feel free to bring as many people as you would like.
Last time we meet up we meet in New Orleans. We picked Chicago for both being a new location we have not gone to before and that it is the most central location for the majority of our members. If this event goes well we will continue to hold events in different locations every year.
Sounds like fun but there's just no way I'll be able to make it. Civil Servants in Kentucky are hoping we still have jobs in October at this point.
I am alittle curious as to how you are going to get a bunch of machines hooked up to make this happen tho. Who is bringing the switches? I would recommend folks bring all the power cables they will need too...surge surpressors and the like. The hotel will rape you if you get them there.
