So what is the 'must play' FPS game these days?

Just about set up on my end here to begin.  New monitor is ready and I'll have the GPU card on Saturday the  31st.  So what is the current game to play?  I see Battlefield 5 is out there as well as MW II.  Is Warzone 2.0 the same thing?  I like the idea of a HUGE map and definitely at least 64 players in a free-for-all kill-fest. What can you recommend?  I also see that I can still pick up Battlefield 4 on the cheap and I think that was a great game and would love to see it in the highest graphics settings.  Keep in mind I'm going from a SLI GTX-580 setup to a new 4080 4K rig so graphics intense requirements shouldn't be an issue.

so most are playing MW2 which is multiplayer 6 v 6 but also includes modes like Invasion (20 v 20 + AI bots) domination large-ish maps, and Ground War (32 v 32) large-ish maps.

Then Warzone 2 is the free to play battle royal games that are linked to MW2, which includes DMZ (includes AI bots) which is bit like Return to Tarkov. Both warzone and DMZ use the same large scale map but DMZ has just released a special mini map

There is couple of people that are playing Battlefield 2042 (only played the beta myself so cannot really give a fair assessment of the game). don't think anyone is playing BF5 or BF4 anymore. but I'm sure if people are i will be corrected

Just to be clear.

All of the games listed above are COD: MW2 outside of the BF series.

DMZ, WARZONE are all COD: MW2.

There are a more than few playing battlefield 2024. Not a lot of the clan but we have a handful of nonmembers who come into TS and play with members most every night. BF2042 had a very ruff launch but the game has come a long way since. It still is not the typical BF game we have played over the years but BF2042 is the closes thing to a BF game experience out there. Based on what you described in your post BF has what you are looking for. fast-paced game play if you want or more conservative approach It has 16 v 16, 32 v 32, or 64 v 64 game modes.  Those of us that play it have fun. But still no dedicated serves and poor squad management

So with DOD:MW II is it better to get the standard game or go with the Vault Edition?  I see what it comes with but is it worth the extra $20?  And does the game also require the purchase of future DLC or not?

COD MW2 I recommend the higher addition that includes new content rather than buying as it goes along, mostly to avoid the pain of continuously buying DLCs. The BF2042 people are mostly on at night Eastern Time. There are a few MW2 people on in the morning then a few in the afternoon then more in the evening and night. All comments above are right on the money so to speak. BF 2042 lost people because of stability with lower end machines but that should not be a problem for you. Too bad you can’t try them both before buying if you are limited to buying only one. As mentioned MW2 Warzone has some free modes that are core in MW2 only ‘Tier One’ mode is Hardcore. Not sure about BF free modes but occasionally they ‘all’ offer limited time free access. I think DMZ in COD MW2 is still free to play. A good number of Clan people play that mode. By the way you are back in the active player Roster and again welcome back.
